I talk to many people who are not aware that they have access to a free copy of their credit report from each of the three credit reporting agencies each year. The place to go to get your free credit report is:

There is no fee and you will not be signed up for a credit monitoring service that will incur future fees.

Be aware, however, that your free credit report does not contain your credit score. The credit score is a separate item and there is a small fee to access that information - usually less than $10
