Housing Counseling: Open the door to your dreams.

Buying a home is one of the most rewarding experiences in life. To make sure you get and keep the home of your dreams, you need a thorough understanding of the home-buying process along with good financial planning. Our certified housing counselors can help you with a pre-purchase consultation, mortgage delinquency counseling, as well as foreclosure and reverse mortgage counseling.  We can also inform you about the different types of mortgages and housing programs available.

There are a few milestones in a person's life that can create both a sense of excitement and of apprehension. Marriage, the birth of a child, and buying a home are events that rate high on this list. Buying your own house not only brings with it a sense of security and responsibility, but also nervousness about the complicated process involved. But, it need not be as difficult as you think it is. At CESI, we can help you by providing clear cut steps to buy a home. With the guidance of our trained Housing Counselors, you will save yourself a lot of time, frustration, and money.

Services Offered

• Pre-purchase credit education - We offer a credit education class which will help those interested in improving their credit.  The class is a two-part session that will be held every 2nd and 4th Wednesday evening.  You must attend Part 1 in order to attend Part 2.  There is a one time non-refundable fee of $75 per household.
• Pre-purchase credit counseling - For those interested in more one-on-one hands-on assistance, we offer long-term credit counseling to go along with the above class.  We will help you as long as it takes to improve your credit.  For both programs, there is a one-time non-refundable fee of $100 per household.
• Forclosure prevention assistance - Our certified foreclosure prevention specialists are available to help Triangle residents save their homes!  We partner with the NC Commissioner of Banks and NC Housing Finance Agency to offer FREE assistance to NC residents.  
• Pre-purchase education - The homeownership center offers the required education for many local and national pre-purchase down payment assistance programs.  This class is offered twice a month in Wake County and once a month in Durham County.  It is a FREE class.
• Coming Soon:  Reverse Mortgage Counseling and Individual Development Account (IDA) Program
